Trees and clean up

Council Hollows and Nest Box program

Yarra Ranges Council is installing nest boxes and artificial hollows around the municipality as part of Council's works to support native species and habitat loss.

Private property clean up

Yarra Ranges Council has welcomed the State Government's announcement of up to $650,000 in grant funding to support local communities affected by the June 2021 Storm.

Frequently asked questions relating to trees and clean up.

Logs

Information on the use of logs from council land and options for logs on private property.

Damage to a common boundary fence

What to do if you share a boundary fence with Council and it was damaged in the June storm

Logs recovered from the storm

Since the devastating storm we have produced 17,000m3 of mulch and 900 tonnes of firewood to locals and community groups. Find out more about what projects Council has undertaken to ensure these trees are reused and repurposed for community use.

Revegetation after the storm

The storm event in June saw an estimated 25,000 trees fall throughout the Yarra Ranges. In the months following the majority of storm debris was removed, but some of that material has remained as it assists in the recovery of the Yarra Ranges ecosystem.
