Alternative methods of fuel reduction

To minimise smoke nuisance and air pollution concerns, landowners/occupiers are encouraged to explore alternative avenues for fuel reduction (other than burning) where possible, these include:

  • use the fortnightly green waste collection.
  • use the bundled branch collection in November/ December.
  • Hire a fire prevention contractor to help with the cleanup.
  • The yearly hard waste collection. The hard waste collection can contain some green waste, however there are some restrictions on what timber/ wood can be collected.
  • Mulching smaller material for placement on garden beds or placing small amounts in with compost to aerate the compost mixture.
  • Chipping branches for placement on gardens beds.
  • Removal of green waste and tree branches to one of Council's Waste Transfer Station sites.
