Volunteering in the storm-impacted area
From COVID-19 lockdowns to one of the largest storms in Victoria’s recent history, it has been an extraordinarily challenging year.
Yet, the efforts of community groups and individuals over the past year has shone a spotlight on the power of volunteers and the resilience in our community.
Twenty per cent of Yarra Ranges residents volunteer in some way in our community and in this past year, many have gone above and beyond to help others in a difficult time.
Some have worked in a group, some have worked alone, but all have helped to make the Yarra Ranges a more hopeful place.
In particular, volunteer groups Treasuring our Trees, Help the hills - Dandenong Ranges Taskforce and Habitat for Humanity were instrumental in assisting those afflicted by the storms.
