Skip bins

You need a Skip Bin Permit if you want to:

  • Place a skip bin on a road reserve or Council land
  • Place a skip bin that intrudes onto the road reserve or Council land

Please note the application process is completed by skip bin companies.

Online

Step 1.Review our permit considerations

Council will not approve any permit application, where the Skip Bin can be placed safely on private property.

The Skip Bin site must be safe and provide convenient access to members of the general public.

The Skip Bin must have:

  • Reflective marking tape at the ends and sides of the container to ensure the container is visible at all times. (In accordance with the Code of Practice for the Placement of Waste Bins on Roadsides).
  • Hazard lights placed on the corners of the container nearest to traffic between the hours of sunset and sunrise.
  • Materials in the Skip Bin must not rot or cause offensive odours.
  • Skip Bins must be removed by the end of the day the permit expires.

 

Step 2.Prepare your documents

Ensure you have a current Public Liability Insurance Policy for at least $10 million.

Step 3.Register for our online services

You will need to have an Epathway account to submit your application. If you do not have an account you must register online before proceeding.

If you already have an account, proceed to step 4. 

Step 4.Complete the online application

Log on and complete the online skip bin permit application.
