Council is carrying out footpath extension works on the northern edge of Olinda Creek Bridge, connecting to the existing footpath on Main Street, Lilydale.

The works will include:

  • A new footpath on the northern edge of the road bridge that connects to the existing footpath on Main Street
  • A section of the north lane of the road will be converted into a footpath by installing new precast concrete kerbs along the dividing line.
  • A section of new footpath (asphalt with bluestone pavers) will be installed behind the existing kerb of the car park, so no single existing car parks will be lost.
  • There will also be concrete seating provided along the new footpath, which will give more opportunities for sitting, resting and eating on Main Street.           

The construction works are scheduled to commence in early March 2025 and should be completed in April 2025, subject to favourable conditions.

We anticipate that 3-4 carparks will need to be used for storage of equipment/machinery while construction is taking place. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please be aware that while we will make every attempt to keep disruptions to a minimum, due to the nature and extent of the works there are likely to be some disruptions to access and traffic flow in the surrounding streets during normal construction working hours from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays.

As there will be contractors and plant operating in close proximity to traffic and footpath users, for the safety of all we request that you:

  • Follow directions given by construction personnel and / or traffic controllers
  • Do not enter construction zones that are signed as such.
