Formed in 2013, the Chum Creek Landcare Group is a passionate community group who help local landowners care for their land and increase biodiversity. The group meets regularly to carry out works such as weed control, plantings, water quality testing and roadside clean-ups, with the aim to improve the ecological health of the Chum Creek area.
Held roughly ten times per year, the work carried out includes seedling planting, weed control and roadside clean-ups. The group conduct regular monitoring of the Chum Creek water quality, as well as the monitoring of planned burns and assisting with the development of a fire management plan for the Healesville area. They host educational workshops and walks, and regularly produce a newsletter. The group conduct invasive animal (deer and rabbit) control.
