Lions Park, Lilydale - Ramp Extension

  • Project scheduleMay
  • Completion Date31 May 2025

Council will be undertaking ramp extension works at the northern end of Lions Park, Lilydale, to allow easier access for mobility scooters on the ramp.

The existing switch back ramp currently causes issues as mobility scooter users can't turn the corner of the ramp without doing two-three point turns at the landing area of the ramp.

While the current ramp was designed and complied with Australian standards, these standards do not reflect requirements for the turning circle of a mobility scooter.

The proposed design will extend the ramp and add a new landing that connects to the main footpath, which will eliminate the need for turning at the existing landing at the middle of the ramp.

During construction, the main concrete footpath and stairs will remain accessible. The ramp will be temporary closed for approximately one week in late April and early May. The corner area between Taco Bill and the proposed ramp will also be blocked off during work hours.

Works are expected to start 28 April and be completed by late May.
