Trading Stories 2

Mooroolbark is home to people from many backgrounds, who have built their livelihoods and lives here.
Trading Stories will deliver murals in Mooroolbark's town centre, sharing stories from people who live and work locally - including stories of culture, migration, business and everyday life.

The project aims to:
  • Make visible the stories behind local businesses
  • Celebrate cultural diversity through public art
  • Support relationships between artists and the community
  • Create artworks that belongs to Mooroolbark and its people

This project values the process as much as the outcome. How the artwork is created through listening, collaboration and respect is central to the program.
An Expression of Interest (EOI) will invite artists to apply, with the selection process involving a Community Reference Group.

Selected artists will collaborate with local business owners to explore and share their stories. Through these conversation and joint efforts, artists will create artworks inspired by their shared experiences.

Murals are planned for delivery in early 2027.

The EOI will be released soon.
