Jenine Godwin-Thompson, Placescapes - Country n Connections
Exhibition on Display
From Fri 10 Apr to Sun 26 Jul
SPEAKING COUNTRY: Culture through the language of Art invites audiences on a journey of reconciliation and cultural immersion through the power of Aboriginal art. Featuring vibrant paintings that speak to Country, connection, and identity, alongside traditional weaving practices, the program celebrates resilience, creativity, and the sharing of knowledge across generations.
When culture speaks, art listens, telling stories that are unwritten and unbroken, carried through Country, memory and making. Each artwork is a way of speaking — not with words alone, but through colour, pattern, movement and connection to place.
Culture lives in what we see, what we feel, and what we remember. It is passed down through generations, held by Elders, and renewed by artists who continue to listen to Country and respond in their own way.
This exhibition reminds us that knowledge does not need to be written to endure. It is held in land, in story, and in community — living, continuing, and always speaking.
