Banner pole application

Council’s banner poles are available for community use and can be booked online. Fees may apply for some locations and exemptions apply for our annual and multi-year grant-funded events. 

Please note: If the banner pole is promoting an event that meets Council’s event registration triggers, you’ll need to submit your registration at least 12 weeks before the event date. Banner Pole bookings without applicable event approvals will be cancelled and refunded. Please review the Planning a Festival or Event web page to understand what needs to be registered.

Are you eligible?

  • Non-commercial and community groups can use banner poles for promotion. 
  • If the banner pole is promoting an event that meets Council’s event registration triggers, you’ll need to submit your registration at least 12 weeks before the event date. Banner Pole bookings without applicable event approvals will be cancelled and refunded. Please review the Planning a Festival or Event web page to understand what needs to be registered. 

 

  • Banners should not be larger than 2.7 metres wide by 1 metre high
  • Sponsorship must not cover more than 25% of the banner. No cigarette, alcohol, gambling or political information is allowed
  • All banners must be securely fixed in place and maintained in good order during the display period
  • Banners can only be displayed if you have a permit. 

You are responsible for installing and removing your banner. Council cannot accept responsibility for damage to banners or injury while installing, during the display period or while removing the banner.

All banners must be removed by 6pm Monday at the end of the permit period. Please note: If you do not remove your banner by the end of the period, we may remove it and leave it secured to the base of the pole for collection. We cannot accept responsibility for the banners during this time.

 

 

Apply online

You can apply to book a banner pole for a maximum of two weeks from 9am on the booked Tuesday until 6pm on the Monday two weeks later. Each organisation is limited to one banner at each set of banner poles, and banners can only be displayed at a maximum of four locations at one time.

Bookings should be made a minimum of two weeks in advance and can only be made up to six months ahead. Markets can only be promoted within one week leading up to the event.

Enrolment, recruitment and registration drives can only be promoted for a maximum of two weeks up to four times per calendar year, subject to availability.
