Bagurrk Biik Bagurrk Biik, pronounced ‘bagrook – bik’, means ‘Women Country’ in Woi-wurrung language and is the name given to the collection of contemporary artworks throughout 8 meeting rooms at the new Civic Centre. These rooms are a cultural daily welcoming of staff and community to Country and reminder of its interconnectivity with Wurundjeri people
Bour-deet The sculpture Bour-deet is part of Art and Sole, a project providing the community with opportunities to explore, connect and move around Lilydale West through wayfinding signs and this feature public artwork.
I Belong I Belong features a cluster of 12 elevated birds’ nests, made of metal and recycled materials, representative of the most common species around Healesville’s Queen’s Park where the sculpture is located. It symbolises a sense of belonging and a place where our young can grow.
Interaction Interaction by sculptor Ernst Fries features two large forms standing tall; leaning forwards both into the future and towards one another. They carry with them an abundance of local natural produce from the local fruit orchards, berry farms and wineries and intersect and support one another in the spirit of community. Montrose Sounding Columns Created during the 2017 redevelopment of the Montrose Town Centre, Montrose Sounding Columns is a collaborative public artwork by sculptor Anton Hasell, integrated into the building’s architecture in partnership with Architecture Matters. This installation is composed of seven monuments that mark the historical boundary of Coranderrk Aboriginal Station, one of Australia’s most significant sites.
