Why join Yarra Ranges Regional Museum Foundation's Board? 

Our Board Directors play a valuable role in supporting Yarra Ranges Regional Museum (YRRM), through governance and strategic direction of the Museum Trust. The Trust provides advice, advocacy and fundraising support for YRRM. As a Community Director, you'll help to support a museum that connects communities across the Yarra Ranges through shared stories, collections and cultural experiences. 

We are particularly interested in hearing from: 

  • People with experience in philanthropy and fundraising 

  • Community members who bring a strong understanding of the value of cultural heritage to the region 

  • Museum, heritage, cultural sector or community development practitioners 

  • First Nations people, particularly those with connection to Wurundjeri Country 

  • Young professionals with skills in marketing, business development and event management. 

Board positions are voluntary (unpaid). Induction and ongoing support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities 

Governance & Trusteeship: Act in good faith and in the best interests of the Foundation, complying with the Corporations Act, the Foundation's Constitution and the Trust Deed for the Museum Trust, and contributing sound judgement to Board decisions. 

Financial Oversight & Risk: Oversee the Foundation's management of the Museum Trust's assets as trustee of the public ancillary fund and approve distributions from the Trust for the Museum's benefit. 

Promotion & Philanthropy: Promote the Museum and the Museum Trust in the community, and help build and nurture relationships with donors, Council and the community to support the Museum's long-term sustainability.

Core Commitment 

Attend four Board meetings annually plus planning days as required and engage with Museum activities by attending exhibitions and events. 

Board meetings are held in a hybrid format (in person or via Microsoft Teams), although we encourage in-person participation wherever possible.

  • Your CV and/or an overview of your relevant experience and skills 

  • Your interest in Yarra Ranges Regional Museum and its work 

  • What you hope to contribute as a Community Director
