A night of mysterious and mystic entertainment, discovery & fun.

Join us for a celebration of Country, rainforest eco-systems and the creatures that live within as we proudly host this event as part of the Burrinja Climate Change Biennale #4.

Featuring

  • DJ Pebbles – Music:  Noongar sisters and RRR broadcasters Bumpy and Emmy bring funk, soul, hip hop, R&B and groove-driven house to the dancefloor, with a set rooted in feeling and freedom.
  • Arabella Eyre - Talk: Discover one of Victoria’s most ambitious threatened-species conservation programs with a special talk from Zoos Victoria’s Leadbeater’s Possum Field Officer.
  •  Snuff Puppets - Performance:  Spend the night roaming with giant puppet animals as Snuff Puppets and their hand-made and experimental puppets break down the distance between performer and audience.
  • Trash Puppet Creatures - Workshop: Get crafty and make your own puppet creature with professional puppet maker Jess Knight and Environmental Scientist Lucy Hedt from puppetry and sustainability education company Trash Puppets.

Activities

  • Gondwana VR: Experience the Museum’s current temporary exhibition Gondwana VR and help to save the rainforest.
  • Forest fortune Teller, Rufus Ninox:  Somewhere among the museum’s shadows roams Rufus Ninox, one of the oldest creatures to make his home amongst the treetops. Watchful and wise, Rufus is difficult to spot in the dense rainforest, but if you’re fortunate enough to find him, and you’re kind enough to ask, he may offer you a glimpse of the future that awaits you.
  • Temporary Rainforest Tattoos by Airbrush Co.: Become one with the forest with a temporary tattoo from Melbourne based Airbrush Co., retailers of custom airbrushed artwork on apparel in Australia.
  • Art Cart for grown-ups:  Tap into your inner child to enjoy the current Art Cart creature mask making activity.
  • Best dressed competition:  Dress in your rainforest best for a chance to win one of the door prizes for best dressed “Creatures of the Night” announced throughout the evening.
