Apply for a fireworks permit

Before you start

You may need a Fireworks Permit if you want to hold a fireworks display.

The following displays do not require a permit application

  • ground (lancework)
  • ground (fountain)
  • theatrical.

We must receive all fireworks display applications 14 days prior to the event.

Council recommends using shell sizes no greater than 3 inches (7.6 cm) for fireworks displays to reduce noise pollution.

The display must take place before 11.00 pm unless otherwise approved by Council.

If the surrounding properties house livestock, the display must not be within 500 m.

The current fee for a Fireworks Display Permit is $211.00.

Fees are inclusive of GST.

Pyrotechnicians must have current public liability insurance for a minimum of $20 mllion and list Council as an interested party.

As part of your application, you need to provide:

  • a copy of your Pyrotechnician Certificate
  • a site plan of display location
  • a copy of the WorkSafe Notification
  • a copy of a notification/letter to local residents
  • a copy of a map showing the letter drop area.
