Supporting Sustainable Schools and Early Years

Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning (EASL)

The Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning (EASL) is a collaboration between five Councils - Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Whitehorse and Yarra Ranges. Through EASL, we collaborate to deliver activities to support schools and early years to embed sustainability into their curriculum and operations, as well as engage with the local community in sustainability activities.

EASL offers a range of events to promote and enhance sustainability education in our region, including:

  • workshops for teachers, educators, staff and volunteers invovled in sustainability education in schools and early learning
  • a biennial 'Learning for Sustainability' conference for staff from eastern region schools/early years, with keynote speakers, workshops and a 'trade fair' (happening in May 2019, 2021 etc)
  • a biennial student leadership event for school students across the eastern region

Attending EASL events can be counted as professional development hours for teacher registration purposes.
