Community groups and service providers

Community groups

We are fortunate to have a strong network of community and township groups managed and run by volunteers.

Council supports the operations of these groups through funding, training, networking and information sharing.

Community groups include seniors groups, arts and craft, music, theatre, scouts and guides, youth, sports & recreation, environment and local history, and many more.

You can get involved in your community or share your interests with others.

If you need help to find the right group for you, please contact Council's Community Development team on 1300 368 333.

Township groups

Township groups are independent community groups initiated and established by the community.
Township groups have a variety of roles, functions and capacities, including:

  • Generating interest and participation in local issues
  • Providing a forum for sharing local information, views and priorities
  • Facilitating open dialogue within the community and external to the community
  • Being an important voice of and advocate for the community
  • Leading and/or supporting community initiated projects
  • Being consulted by governments where it concerns their township

Networks of Service Providers

Council's Community Development team supports a number of networks of service providers in Yarra Ranges.

These networks meet four times a year.

To find out more about the following networks, click on the name of the network to send an email, or contact Council's Community Development team on 1300 368 333.
