Why Should You Be Involved?

Council is committed to supporting and promoting the establishment and/or development of Business and Trader Groups (BTG) that are sustainable and highly functioning. Council encourages practices that enable a co-operative approach to their management, promotion, and marketing.

The purpose and role of a Business and Trader Group is to:

  • Improve the viability and vitality of its members and activity base(i.e. township, centre, shopping strip, region.)
  • Represent the views of its business community & facilitate a shared vision
  • Provide a central point of contact for Council, Government agencies, businesses, and other stakeholders.
  • Advocate to Council and other key stakeholders in a unified voice.
  • Oversee key township, Mainstreet and shopping strip marketing, promotion and communication activities and ensure that these are integrated
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to realise its vision.
  • Build relationships among its business community and with Council and other government and community groups.

Specifically, the framework will enable community led and inclusive local business collaboration, networking, and advocacy, that results in a pathway to sustainable economic prosperity.
