Trees are the heart of the Yarra Ranges, deeply intertwined with our culture, values, and communities. They shape our landscapes and provide essential benefits to our health, wellbeing, environment, ecology and economy.

Make a lasting tribute

You can make a lasting tribute to a person or organisation by contributing towards the Council's tree planting program.

We appreciate contributions of any amount, and every contribution will make a difference. To give you a guide, the cost to supply, plant and maintain a tree for the vital first 2 years is approximately $400.00 (as of June 2025).

How your contribution makes an impact

Your generosity will help fund the Council's ambitious tree planting initiative, which focuses on expanding and sustaining our tree canopy.

You can choose to contribute towards tree planting in either of the following locations:

Climate Adaptive Native Arboretum - Lillydale Lake

Your contribution will help create a living showcase of native plants, allowing us to monitor how they grow under changing climate conditions.

Located at Lillydale Lake Park, the Arboretum guides future public planting and inspires residents to choose resilient species for their own gardens.

Cambridge Road Urban Forest - 150 Cambridge Road, Kilsyth

Be part of the creation of the Cambridge Road Urban Forest at the former Pembroke Secondary College site in Kilsyth. Though still in its early stages, this space will grow over time into a peaceful sanctuary for the whole community.

Yarra Ranges Council's Tree Management team will carefully select the most suitable tree species and planting locations with the reserve, ensuring every tree thrives in its new environment. Planting will occur seasonally to give each tree the best chance to grow.

Your support will help us nurture a greener, more vibrant future for the Yarra Ranges community.
