Animal infringement refunds

Before you start

Animal-related infringements issued from 2014 are not valid due to incorrect wording in official notices. Full refunds will be provided.

Eligibility criteria

You may be eligible for a full refund if:

  • You received an animal infringement from Yarra Ranges Council.
  • The infringement was issued between January 2014 to February 2023.
  • You were the one who paid the infringement.
  • The animal-related infringement relates to:
  1. Dogs being walked off lead in an on-lead area (Section 26 (2) of the Domestic Animals Act 1994)
  2. Cats found wandering at large (Section 25(2) of the Domestic Animals Act 1994)

Required information

  • Animal microchip details or an infringement number (as found on an infringement notice)
  • A valid form of ID (e.g. driver’s licence)

Next steps

Once you have submitted your application, you’ll receive a confirmation email. 

Council will review your application and verify your eligibility. Once verified, we will process your refund.

The refund could take between 6-8 weeks to be processed via electronic bank transfer.
