Do we still feel the land? Do we hear its history and spirit?

Enter a space where movement becomes memory and story is etched in every gesture. Set on a striking monochrome stage scattered with pools of sand and framed by a single glowing picture frame, Of The Land On Which We Meet is a visually arresting new work from Naarm-based Na Djinang Circus.

Through breathtaking circus, contemporary dance, and theatre, performers Johnny Brown, Violetta Van Geyzel and Manelaya Kaydo-Nitis share three deeply personal stories of Country. Their bodies move with water-like fluidity, shifting between poise and chaos, solitude and connection, as they build, balance and break apart in a powerful exploration of land, spirit and history.

This intimate three-hander invites audiences to reflect on Australia’s connection to its 60,000+ year legacy and imagine new ways of honouring and reconnecting with Country.

A must-see from one of Australia’s most innovative circus companies.

This project received Cash to Create through the Fringe Fund, as part of Deadly Fringe.

Supported by Melbourne Fringe, The City of Melbourne, The City of Maribyrnong, Craig Semple, Creative Victoria, Creative Australia, The Women’s Circus and Regional Arts Victoria.

Na Djinang circus acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people and their unbroken connection and custodian shift of the land that we gather on.

We Acknowledge our privilege as visitors on this land and accept the responsibilities to care for country and tread lightly.
