Apply for Small Grants
Through its new Small Grants Program, Council offers support for community groups responding to opportunities and challenges in their communities.
The Program provides funding for activities that facilitate greater social inclusion, wellbeing and participation and that foster community leadership and capacity building.
The Small Grants Program comprises a number of categories:
- Social Inclusion (up to $1000)
- Community Planning for endorsed Community Plans (up to $1000)
- Youth Initiative (up to $1000)
- Sports Participation (up to $400)
- In-kind for hall and facility hire (up to $300)
- In-kind for waste management (up to 30 bins).
As with all Council grants funding is limited and will be awarded on a competitive basis.
Before you commence a Small Grant application it is essential that you read the Small Grants Program Guidelines (DOCX, 215KB). The Guidelines detail eligibility, selection criteria and key definitions.
Please note that applicants can only be awarded one Small Grant each financial year.
How to apply
Applications for Small Grants are made by completing an online application form at yarraranges.smartygrants.com.au.
Key dates and timelines
The Small Grants Program will run on a monthly basis. Applications will be assessed quickly, with a maximum turn around time of four weeks. Approximate times are detailed below.
Please note that applications can be made well in advance, but no retrospective grants can be approved. Activities need to take place after the grant has been awarded.
Last calendar day of each month
2-3 weeks from round closing
1 week from assessments occurring
Applicants for in-kind grants for hall hire need to contact Council’s Hall and Venues Team to check availability and fees.
Applicants for in-kind waste management need to contact Council's Waste Management team at least one week before the round closes to confirm eligibility.
