Parking infringement refunds

Before you start

Parking infringements that have been issued from 2005 remain valid, but a portion of the amount fined was incorrectly charged. Partial refunds will be provided.

Eligibility criteria

You may be eligible for a partial refund if:

  • You have received a parking infringement issued by Yarra Ranges Council.
  • You were issued an infringement between July 2005 to July 2025.
  • You were the one who made the payment on the eligible infringement.
  • The fine relates to one of these parking offences:
  1. Parking for a period longer than indicated
  2. Parked failing to pay & obey instructions on sign
  3. Stopping contrary to a no parking sign
  4. Parking not completely within a parking bay

Required information

  • Vehicle registration details or an infringement number (as found on an infringement notice)
  • A valid form of ID (e.g. driver’s licence)
  • Evidence you are the owner of the motor vehicle or the nominated driver of the vehicle at the time of the offence.

 

If you are the owner of the motor vehicle

You must provide at least (1) one of the following documents:
  • Certificate of registration for the relevant state. (If registered in Victoria, you can download this from VicRoads.)
  • Proof of car insurance
  • A completed vehicle transfer form (if you have since sold the vehicle)
  • Proof of vehicle purchase
  • Vehicle servicing documentation 
  • Other forms of proof (may be assessed individually.)

 

If you are the nominated driver of a motor vehicle

You must provide both evidence that you were the nominated driver of the motor vehicle AND proof of payment. 

Proof of nomination

You mustprovide at least (1) one of the following documents:

  • A statutory declaration signed by the registered owner of the vehicle. 
  • A statutory declaration signed by the nominated driver of the vehicle.
  • Letter from the business (if the vehicle is company registered.)

Proof of payment

You mustprovide at least (1) one form of proof of payment:

  • Receipt number
  • Bank statement
  • BPAY reference
  • Printed payment receipt

Applications will open on Wednesday, 5 November 2025 at 9:00am.

 

Next steps

Once you have submitted your application, you’ll receive a confirmation email. 

Council will review your application and verify your eligibility. Once verified, we will process your refund.

The refund could take between 6-8 weeks to be processed via electronic bank transfer.
