Floods, storms & landslips
Our area is prone to storms, flooding and landslips. We work closely with emergency response services to continue developing our Municipal emergency plan (PDF, 2MB) which has sub plans to cover all situations. We also ensure that building overlays like our erosion management and land subject to inundation or floods overlays are adhered to.
Yarra Ranges Flood Management Plan was completed in June 2016 in collaboration with stakeholders including, Council, Melbourne Water and VICSES. Reviews take place yearly and will involve collaboration between organisations and identify new data drawn from flood and drainage studies and mapping exercises. Yarra Ranges is a highly flood prone area and is subject to a number of drainage challenges.
