You’re invited to the UTCRASH grand opening

The Upwey and Tecoma community is invited to the Upwey Tecoma Community Sporting Pavilion (UTCRASH) facility grand opening on Saturday 24 March.

The event will be part of Upwey Grassroots Market and Upwey High School Open Day with live music, food stalls, a petting zoo and a jumping castle.

The new $3.6m two-storey community, recreation and sporting pavilion will provide the Upwey and Tecoma communities with a modern and well-designed facility which suits the needs of 23 groups and clubs.

Mayor Len Cox said the groups involved had worked closely with Council to fulfil the needs of the Upwey and Tecoma community.

“We look forward to welcoming the whole community to this event to celebrate their hard work in achieving in this vision,” Cr Cox said.

Council is contributing $1.1m, the State Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund is contributing $1m, with funding from the Australian Government’s Community Development Grants Programme($500,000) and State Government’s Community Facilities Funding Program ($500,000).

The Bendigo Community Bank has contributed $250,000.

The community provided in-kind assistance and cash to the value of $250,000.
