River of Light Festival lantern making workshop

Children across Warburton and the Upper Yarra have been working hard these school holidays to be ready for the River of Light Festival.

Join the children and families from across the region and be enchanted when Warburton lights up in a sea of lanterns on Saturday 29 July.

From 5pm you’re invited to join the community, local businesses, producers and growers for this free warming winter festival.

Wander the banks of the river and carry a light as part of the lantern walk. See for yourself the wonderful lanterns that the children have been creating.

A seasonal community feast will await at Mechanic’s Hall with local growers and producers presenting their seasonal best for you to sample.

Let the night slip away to a soundtrack of live-music, poetry, storytelling and other activities for the kids.

This evening is sure to be a nostalgic walk down memory lane for locals and an exciting new experience for many more.

Make sure to rug up as it is sure to be chilly. Gloves, beanies and scarves will be a must.

The River of Light Festival is proudly supported with $1,000 from Yarra Ranges Council's Small Grants program.

If you like to sing come along at 4:30 to learn a beautiful aboriginal song before the parade starts!
