Women on the Go 2021 - The Importance of Support

Women on the Go Ladies

Event Cancellation

This year should have marked our 14th annual Women on the Go event.

After a successful pivot to an online event last year,  we were so excited to be back in person for 2021.

Unfortunately, the world is still an uncertain place, and after postponing our original June date to September, we’ve decided to cancel Women on the Go 2021.

Of course we’re disappointed. But if the enthusiasm our original event was met with taught us anything, it’s that women in the Yarra Ranges are ready to re-connect, to share in person, to get out from behind our screens and back in a room together.

So while it’s with a heavy heart that we’re letting Women on the Go 2021, go, we’re already looking forward to celebrating 15 years of Yarra Ranges women in business next year - and in person.

As you continue to give support, remember it’s ok to ask for, and accept support as well. We’re all in this together. Please reach out to Council if there’s anything we can do to support you and your business.

And keep in touch via our eNews and socials - we’ll be sharing a little something celebrating Women on the Go on September 16.

Take care, stay safe & we will see you then !

Refunds

The 2021 theme of Women on the Go was to be 'The Importance of Support.' In the spirit of this, we've had some registered attendees request that their ticket price be donated.

We are partnering with GIVIT to accept donations to their Victorian  Domestic and Family Violence Support Fund, and are pleased to offer you this option.

GIVIT  manages offers of donated goods, services, volunteering and funds to give to people to and communities with a human social need or impacted by a natural disaster event.

100% of donated money received by GIVIT is used to purchase what's needed by the people and communities impacted.  GIVIT purchases from local providers to support the local economy, where possible.

We want to thank our panel of women that we had lined up - our host, comedian and author Nellie Thomas and our local business women:

  • Jodie Caldwell from Mooroolbark Wool, who’s co-run her family business for 18yrs, supports a staff of four and is an active member of the Mooroolbark Traders group, supporting other businesses and her community.
  • Cleo Silva, who started roasting coffee at home over 11 years ago, and now runs Silva Coffee, whose beans are enjoyed all over Melbourne. She and her husband just opened their second store in Warburton, employ a team of local staff, and Cleo is a passionate advocate of an engaged local community and is now the Yarra Ranges Tourism representative for CEDA.
  • Mayor Fiona McAllister

And thank you to you, our engaged and passionate business community. Yarra Ranges is home to hundreds of women in business supporting their staff, families, communities and businesses every day. That’s why this year, we’d planned to celebrate the Importance of Support; and although the event may be cancelled, this theme is more important than ever.
