About the exhibition

Inspired by historical Victory Gardens of World War I and II, this multi-disciplinary exhibition aims to educate and empower our community to grow and source food locally, and take home some practical resources and skills.

The exhibition highlights how the concept of Victory Gardens emerged during times of scarcity. In a contemporary context the exhibition showcases the importance of community, self-reliance, and resourcefulness as we navigate an uncertain future.

Collaborating with Healesville's vibrant community gardens, the artist has established connections that foster local engagement, with free resources available to attendees including how you start your own vegetable garden, handy seasonality charts, and packets of non-invasive vegetable seeds.

"Victory Gardens" aims to raise awareness about the benefits of growing food at home, identifying Indigenous food sources and reducing waste in domestic settings. Beyond the tangible rewards of healthier, fresher produce, it emphasizes the positive impact on mental well-being, environmental sustainability, resilience and the local economy.
