Step 1.Before you start

If you are concerned about a tree on a neighbour’s property, speak to your neighbour first before taking action. You should speak with your neighbour about getting the tree assessed by a qualified arborist.

If your neighbour refuses to have the tree assessed you can lodge the following request to inspect a tree on a neighbour’s property with Council.

Complete the application

You'll need to provide your contact details, information about the tree and a map of where the trees are located.

Step 2.Inspection and report

If your neighbour refuses to have the tree assessed by a qualified arborist, you can lodge the following request to inspect a tree on a neighbour’s property with Council. We will have the tree inspected and will send the arborist report to you and/or your neighbour within two weeks. 

Any action required relating to the tree potentially posing a risk to Council land will be enforced by Council, however any tree potentially posing a risk to private property will remain a civil matter to be managed between the property owners.
