Foster carer registration

If you foster cats and dogs in Victoria, can now apply for free to become a Voluntarily Enrolled Foster Carer (VEFC).

What benefits would I receive by enrolling as a VEFC?

  • A reduced registration rate of $8.00 for each dog or cat you foster during the first 12 months the dog/cat is in your care.
  • The ability to use Pet Shops as a means of providing additional community exposure to dogs and cats.

Apply online to become a Voluntarily Enrolled Foster Carer. If you are successful, we will register you on the Pet Exchange Register and will provide you with the relevant information.

Please note: if you intend to keep more than 2 dogs or more than 2 cats at your property you may require an Excess Animal Permit.
