Roads for Community program

Project Update - January 2023

In November 2022, Council was notified by Federal Government that they would be cutting funding for projects within the Roads for the Community program.

Following this notification, Council representatives have been meeting and discussing with the Federal Government with regard to their funding commitment to the Roads for Community Program.

Council are still awaiting an official response from the responsible Minister with regard to the funding position for this program.

Once an official response is received, further updates and notifications will be provided to landowners of affected projects.

If you have any enquiries about your project, they can be emailed to mail@yarraranges.vic.gov.au

In 2019, the Federal Government provided $150 million in funding, so Council could seal hundreds of kilometres of currently unsealed roads across Yarra Ranges.

Council has prioritised the use of this funding to subsidise sealing roads that border on schools, preschools, key community facilities, complete sealed road networks in urban areas, and that service areas with a high property density.

This will provide the greatest benefit to the most number of residents and visitors.

Roads that Council have proposed for construction using this funding are included in the map below.

Council's Roads for Community Team will be in contact with residents about 18 months ahead of the scheduled works, to begin consultation.  Find out more and read FAQ's about Roads for Community.
