Yarra Ranges Council is running a series of webinars and in-person events this year to educate the community about weeds, their impact on the environment and ways to remove them.

There are a number of webinars scheduled for coming weeks, including:

  • Environmental Weed Control
    Monday, 12 July, at noon

Environmental weeds are a big problem throughout the Yarra Ranges, both on public and private land, and we all have a responsibility to deal with them. Weeds can suffocate our native plants and destroy habitat, damaging the delicate ecosystem.

At this webinar you will learn what environmental weeds are, why they are a problem and how you can remove them without defaulting to chemicals.

Join Lyster Ward Councillor, Johanna Skelton, as she discusses these issues, and more, with a panel of local experts.

  • Common Weeds of the Yarra Ranges
    Sunday, 18 July, from 10am-11.30am

Environmental weeds pose a serious threat to the native biodiversity of our region. They can damage our natural landscapes, waterways and bushland areas by displacing native species, contributing to land degradation and reducing food and habitat for wildlife.

This webinar will talk you through the most common weeds found in the Yarra Ranges, how to prioritise which ones to target and the best techniques for removing them.
