School Holiday bookings open soon

Families are being encouraged to keep an eye out for School Holiday activities in early January, following a range of successful Children’s Week events.

Over Children’s Week in October, activities included storytimes, walks on Country, gardening programs, pram walks, spooky Halloween science and reptile events.

A puppet show and storytime was held at Healesville Library, where a group of children and their parents heard a story about healthy eating, from storyteller, Sharni, before a puppet show from The Dreaming Space about gardens, biodiversity and permaculture.

On 5 December, bookings will open for the January School Holiday Program, with even more events for children and families.

Yarra Ranges Mayor, Sophie Todorov, encouraged families to keep an eye on the Council website, for more School Holiday and children’s events.

“Over Childrens Week in October, we had more than 1500 families engaged in events – numbers we haven’t seen since before the pandemic,” Cr Todorov said.

“It was heartening that we had a good diversity of activities and age ranges, giving families of all kinds the opportunity to have some fun, learn something new or play together.

“Importantly, these events have a focus on accessibility and affordability, so everyone can easily get involved.

“I’m very proud of the range of events and activities we provide here at Council, and support through partners such as Your Library (formerly Eastern Regional Libraries).

Events on offer in January include Paper Plate Makers, Ahoy – Pirate Capers, Lego Challenges, NGB Kids on Tour Activities and Family Films.
