Council meeting recap - 25 May, 2021

For those of you who missed the livestream of Tuesday's Council meeting, here's a quick summary of what was discussed:

Lilydale Revitalisation Project - Phase 2 Projects

Council voted to support the nominated projects put forward for funding as part of Phase 2 of the Lilydale Revitalisation Project, while also committing to the co-contribution of funding for these projects.

Council has committed to contributing $250,000 of funding through its 2022/23 Capital Works Program towards the following State Budget projects:

  • Lions Park - Stage 2
  • 'Cycle Centre' nodes
  • Beresford Road Cycle crossing
  • Rail Station Building Heritage Precinct upgrade
  • Integrated Community Facility Options Study

Council has also committed $199,000 in funding towards the following Building Works Stimulus projects:

  • Lilydale Community Garden Pop Up
  • Lions Park Masterplan and Implementation Stage 1
  • Castella Street Streetscape Masterplan and Implementation Stage 1
  • Street Art

Additional Council Meeting on 29 June 2021

Council voted to hold an additional Council Meeting on Tuesday, 29 June 2021.

This is to ensure the timely consideration of several items of business.

Review of Mayoral and Councillor Allowances

After giving public notice of retaining its current level of Mayoral and Councillor allowances, and a subsequent review, Council has set its allowances for the term of this Council.

The allowances support the Mayor and Councillors to perform their roles, enabling them to contribute to the strategic direction of Council.

Finance Report 1 July 2020 to 31 March 2021

Council received and noted the Finance Report from the above time period, and approved the Capital Works Transfers as outlined in the March Quarterly Capital Works Report.

The reports outline the financial performance and position of Council's activities as at the end of the third quarter of the 2020-21 financial year, as well as a forecast of performance for the full year.

Review of Delegations Made to Council Staff

Council approved the proposed changes to Council's Instruments of Delegation, ensuring that appropriate members of Council staff holding, acting in or performing the duties of the positions described in the Instrument of Delegation are nominated to act as delegates.

Millgrove Community Plan 2021-2024

Council acknowledged the Millgrove Community Plan and the fantastic work that has been undertaken by the Millgrove Resident Action Group (MRAG) to develop the Plan.

Council also acknowledged the achievements of the previous plan that was developed by the Millgrove community.

The 2021-2024 Plan is the result of significant voluntary work from the MRAG and associated community groups to engage with their community to help plan for a more resilient, connected and healthy community.

Council's Community Development Officers will support MRAG with the implementation of this plan over the next three years.

EOI6105 6255 - Construction of Forest Street, Yarra Glen

Council endorsed the outcome of a quotation process for the Construction of Forest Street, Yarra Glen and awarded the tender for the works to Jotomex Civil Contracting Pty Ltd.
