The State Government has announced an update to COVID-19 restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne - which includes all of Yarra Ranges.

From 11.59pm Thursday, 10 June, the following changes have been made to existing restrictions:

  • The five reasons to leave home no longer apply for metropolitan Melbourne.
  • The existing 10km limit has now been increased to 25km.
  • The only reasons to go further than 25km are for work, education, care and caregiving, and getting vaccinated.
  • People in metropolitan Melbourne are still NOT permitted to travel to regional Victoria.
  • Face masks must be carried at all times and must be worn indoors and outdoors. (You do not need to wear a mask in your own home, the home of your intimate partner or single bubble buddy or if another lawful exception applies.)
  • Outdoor gatherings are now allowed with a maximum of 10 people, however visitors to your home are still not allowed (with the exception of single bubbles and intimate partners).
  • Schools will be able to resume face-to-face learning from Friday 11 June.
  • Cafes, restaurants and pubs will open, with strict safety measures like density limits, seated service and QR codes in place.
  • Remaining retail businesses will also open, while hairdressing, beauty and personal care can resume but only where masks can be kept on.
  • Weddings are limited to 10 people, and funerals no more than 50. Religious gatherings also have a limit of 50.
  • Swimming pools, entertainment venues and community facilities will also open subject to density limits.
  • Community sport can return but only for the purpose of training.

This coming week will be crucial to prevent the virus spreading further.

Please wear a mask, practice social distancing, check Victorian Department of Health's exposure site list, get tested if you have any symptoms, no matter how minor and, if you're eligible, get vaccinated.
