Blasting at the former Lilydale Quarry

Published on 26 June 2020

We understand that many residents surrounding the former Lilydale Quarry are concerned with the recent blasting works, where quarrying activities have been inactive for some time.

As a Planning Permit has been issued, at the direction of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) for earthworks and vegetation removal, the blasting works currently being undertaken have been approved.

However, all works must be in accordance with the planning permit, permit conditions and any endorsed documentation under the permit, including the Blast Management Plan (BMP).
