We're creating a Master Plan for McDermott Avenue Reserve in Mooroolbark and we want your feedback on how you use the reserve and what you'd like to see improved.
The reserve has been underutilised since the Lillydale and Yarra Valley Netball Association moved to Pinks Reserve several years ago. At that point the intention was to sell the land. Council officers are now investigating the feasibility of alternate options for the site.
Over the year, we've heard from many community members, about how they value and need quality outdoor spaces to enjoy. This is particularly important over the coming months, where gathering outdoors is the safest way to see others. We want to hear from our communities about how we can improve the outdoor spaces they know and love, making them better places for everyone to enjoy.
We're currently reviewing the current and future opportunities for community use of the McDermott Avenue Reserve through the development of a Master Plan for the area.
Fill out our survey below to tell us about what you like and what you'd change about the reserve - all the feedback we gather will help us create a draft Master Plan, which we'll return to the community for feedback.

What is a Master Plan?
Council creates Master Plans to map out how an area (such as a park or recreation reserve) will change over a long period of time (up to 10 or 20 years).
These changes could include adding in buildings, park equipment, playgrounds, paths or features that we've identified a need for, from community feedback, data and trends.
They are also used to map out large-scale projects, so community members can see what the project will look like, how it will work and where it will be.
When we create a Master Plan, we gather feedback from the community about what they would like to see in an area and use that, along with data and expert opinion, to create a draft plan.
The Draft Master Plan is then put back out to the community, so we can get more feedback and ensure our plan has got all the details and ideas right.
We can’t always include everyone’s ideas or suggestions into a Draft Master Plan, but we’ll look over everyone’s feedback and create something that works for the community, while planning for future residents and visitors.
Once the draft plan has been out for public feedback, it will be discussed at a public Council meeting and be endorsed.
After that happens, we'll start working on the detailed designs of the project, which we'll share with the community when completed.
Our Master Plans help us to figure out our Budgets for coming years and the projects we'll take to other levels of government to get funding for.
For this project, we're asking community members for their feedback about what they like - and what they would change - about McDermott Avenue Reserve, so we can create a draft Master Plan.
Following this engagement period, we'll put together a draft Master Plan and release it back for community comment in early 2021.
