By helping others we also help ourselves. Acts of kindness are good for our emotional wellbeing and can increase our peace of mind.

At Yarra Ranges Council we appreciate Covid-19 is raising new challenges for individuals, families and businesses. Below are some suggestions for supporting others and building social connections during this challenging time.

If you know someone who needs help, our dedicated team can direct them to the relevant services in their area. Visit our Community relief and support agencies page, call our dedicated team on 1300 368 333 or contact us onlineYou can also find local services and community groups to direct people to via the online community directory.

Local services for young people can be found at ConnectUsSome Yarra Ranges Neighbourhood Houses are still providing support and opportunities to connect people during the pandemic. The Outer East Chatline is providing social contact by phone for people experiencing isolation. Gather My Crew is a free online roster tool developed by an Australian charity to assist people to coordinate help for friends, family and neighbours.

How you can help

You might like to donate to one of the local emergency relief services currently supporting families and individuals that are going through difficulties with free food, meals, transport and bill assistance.

Give your time and talents to the community through volunteeringFind a local community group or service that aligns with your interests and offer your help. Please note that some community groups and services are taking a break whilst restrictions are in place. Council volunteer recruitment is currently on hold.
