State Election 2022

Yarra Ranges is a significant place in Victoria. Located on Melbourne’s eastern edge, it is a hinterland that endures as ‘Melbourne’s Playground’.

By 2032, Yarra Ranges aims to grow our economy to $9.1 billion, supporting more than 57,000 local jobs.

With this immense potential, we must ensure:

  • our communities have equitable access to services and infrastructure
  • our natural environment is resilient and thriving
  • our townships evolve sustainably, and
  • our local businesses have the right supports to prosper.

That’s why our advocacy agenda ahead of the 2022 State Election includes initiatives that support local community service providers, strengthen social connection, and ensure our community infrastructure is accessible and inclusive. We continue to advocate for better telecommunications, particularly in remote areas and regions prone to natural disasters.

We pride ourselves on the stunning landscape we call home, and aim to protect and enhance it by increasing tree canopy and First Nations land management practices.

The way our community moves around our vast municipality is ever-changing. This means reliable public transport services, better walking and cycling trails, and electric vehicle infrastructure is critical for liveability and sustainability.

Tourism will continue to be a key feature of our economy for years to come, with Ridges and Rivers to become the centrepiece of our tourism offering. Better recognition of our unique urban-regional mix will unlock even more economic potential.

Working with the Victorian Government and a diverse range of partners, we can make Yarra Ranges an even better place to live, work and visit.
