What is public art?

Public art is art that is made to be put in public space so that anyone walking by can experience it.

Public art can be a painting, sculpture, installation, performance piece, music or an experience that draws in people walking by. Artists who make public art have something they want to tell the public through their artwork.

Artist Gulsen Ozer

It takes a town workshop artist Gulsen Ozer

Workshops will be led by artist Gulsen Ozer and supported by the Yarra Ranges Council Community and Youth Development team.

Gülsen, also known as 'G', is a professional visual and performing artist living and working in the Dandenong and Yarra Ranges. She is passionate about the role of art in society.

Growing up in a small town in Victoria, she loved to make things, to draw, paint, dance, act and write. Gulsen makes live art works, large-scale participatory community events, installations, and public art.
