Apply for a 2023-2027 Partnership Grant

Through the Partnerships Program, we invite eligible community groups, organisations and service providers to deliver projects and programs which facilitate positive social change, while celebrating the diversity and cultural uniqueness of our region. Its purpose is to support the development of an empowered, vibrant and inclusive Yarra Ranges through strategic funding and strong partnerships.

To successfully apply to the Partnership Program, applicants need to be eligible, demonstrate a strong alignment with Council’s adopted strategies, meet the selection criteria (including experience delivering Council funded initiatives) and demonstrate a willingness to work collaboratively. Annual funding of between $5,000 - $40,000 is available for operational activities or specific programs.  Please refer to the Program Guidelines(PDF, 1MB) for further information.

Applications for the 2023-27 Partnership Program have now closed.

Successful recipients will be announced in 2023, in preparation for the program to commence 1 July 2023.

Healesville Belonging Place - Phase 2

During Phase 2 'Healesville Belonging Place' project will expand and strengthen HICSA’s culturally safe and welcoming place for delivery of a range of integrated services and programs. Wellbeing Access and Fresh Start

LinC seeks to expand its mission, empowering those in the community to achieve their full social and economic potential through access to support/services where often there is no other form of support readily available. LinC’s mission is care and love irrespective of circumstance in direct ways that have sustainable outcomes for people. A primary focus will be evolving emergency relief to have greater impact on community members seeking help to reduce recurrent reliance on support.

Healesville Interchurch Community Care Incorporated (HICCI)

Provision and Development of HICCI Services

To continue and develop HICCI’s three main programs: (1) emergency relief, (2) volunteer community transport and (3) a weekly community meal called Dinner@Darrons. Recently an interest free loans scheme has been started. Emergency relief provides assistance in the form of fresh food, food parcels, vouchers, fuel vouchers, utility and other bill assistance. Volunteer transport assists frail, aged and isolated people, and people with disabilities with transport. A dedicated team of volunteers, transport people to shopping, social outings, medical and allied health appointments, visiting family and friends.

Lilydale Assist

Lilydale Assist - Strengthening and Future Proofing Place- based Support Services

This project aims to enable a trusted, long-serving local agency to deliver enhanced and responsive information and support services to the local community. If funded in full, the project will allow Lilydale Assist to transform and reach its potential - building capacity of the organisation to grow and diversify its funding, service offerings and capacity of the workforce. Core services will be maintained; emergency relief, advocacy and referral, personal counselling, tourist information and secretariat for local emergency relief network.

Dandenong Ranges Emergency Services (DRES)

Ranges Emergency Relief

The partnership with Yarra Ranges Council will enable DRERS to continue to provide a quality emergency relief service to our community through funding that would assist DRERS to meet operational expenses, administrative costs and employ a manager to oversee the services and programs. We propose to continue to provide programs in the areas of emergency relief, a drop in centre, school breakfasts, Christmas gifts for underprivileged children, and fresh garden produce. We will provide a range of services designed to alleviate food insecurity to the most vulnerable, disadvantaged and marginalised people in our community.

Yarra Valley ECOSS

Yarra Valley ECOSS

Yarra Valley ECOSS is a multi faceted, growing Community Environment Hub. They host Work for the Dole, Cire Community School (twice weekly), Interchange, Wesley Mission, general schools program and general community volunteers. All the participants of the program have options of areas of involvement, including: gardening, horticulture, maintenance, earth building, and specific projects. Wesley Mission are currently building a Native Bee Wall, CIRE students have just completed a bio filtration project, and earth ship style seat, and are undertaking various other hands- on learning projects.

Melba Support Services Inc.

Our Healthy Communities

Working with schools in the Yarra Ranges, Melba will develop and deliver a series of collaborative healthy-eating workshops in schools. Students will work alongside people with complex physical and intellectual disabilities, participating in tasks such as growing, harvesting, preparing and cooking fresh produce to create a delicious meal.

Anchor Inc

Rapid Response Pilot

This partnership proposal brings services together in a timely manner to respond effectively to rough sleepers at their place of location. Our Rapid Response Pilot (RRP) recognises geographical isolation as a significant barrier for rough sleepers in accessing services. Our assertive outreach approach is an integral part of Anchor's RRP design that aims to reduce barriers to accessing support by providing a tailored response.

Monbulk and District Community Opportunities Working Group (MADCOW)

Developing Monbulk & District Communities Capacity for a connected, healthy & sustainable future.

MADCOW is looking to deepen its capacity to support the townships of Monbulk, Silvan and The Patch Districts by becoming part of the National Network of ABCDE (Asset Based Community Driven Efforts) Learning sites. The intent of becoming an ABCDE Learning Site is to harness and strengthen the work that MADCOW has done over the past few years to allow it to deliver programs and initiatives that result in a flourishing and connected community.

Koha Community Cafe Inc

Koha Community Cafe

This project will continue to provide 70-100 healthy freshly made vegetarian three course meals once a week. It will offer a safe, welcoming environment for many people including those who are isolated, people with mental health issues or physical disabilities, struggling young families, those who can benefit from Koha through volunteering to develop their confidence and skills and potentially skills to gain employment.

Mt Evelyn Township Group

Provide Funding for Township Group activities and projects via the Network

The Township Groups which make up the Yarra Ranges Township Group Network (YRTGN) are volunteer organisations. Members have an ongoing burden of financial commitments to provide an infrastructure for their volunteers' considerable commitment of time, effort and personal skills.
Raising funds for administrative and project costs imposes additional strain on their resources. The YRTGN has determined that small amounts of money in a timely fashion when they are needed can make a difference between a group's demise, survival and encouragement to grow.

Caladenia Dementia Care

Caladenia Dementia Specific Carer Support

Caladenia has provided support and information to carers as well as hosting a monthly support group for over 30 years. This group is the only dementia specific support group in the Shire of Yarra Ranges, and is unfunded under our current funding agreements. With the support of Council we have been able to not only continue to provide these services - but the services to carers have been able to grow and expand to meet the growing need in the area.

Migrant Information Centre (Eastern Melbourne)

Engaging Refugee Families and Children in Education

The project will engage a bilingual Hakha Chin project officer who will together work with local preschools to engage refugee families in their children's learning. The project will enable the preschools and primary schools to share information with parents more effectively, encourage parent involvement in school and parent committees, identify issues and topics for information sessions or training such as training on enrolment requirements, communications apps and undertake excursions to school/preschool, open days and orientation days.

Protecting Plants, People, Place

HEWI will continue practical community engagement supporting Council’s goals: 1) Active and engaged communities; 2) Protected and enhanced environment. The scope of work will include, but not limited to, (i) water watch projects, (ii) protecting platypus, (iii) orchid surveys, (iv) community education workshops run in partnership with partnering organisations.

The Hills Food Frontier

THFF: Changing the world one bite at a time

The Hills Food Frontier (THFF) is known in the Hills for its ability to 'make it happen' by utilising the generous nature of volunteer members as well as our expertise in collaborating with local communities. THFF currently have four projects underway: Tecoma FLAME Community Garden and Food Forest, Food is Free Tecoma (FIFT), The Ridge Community Good Food Project and the Proserpina Community Educational Hub. THFF would like to develop more projects such as a demonstration Nature Strip Food Garden. The diverse THFF Program will provide: Good Food Growing, Good Food Eating, Good Food Promotion, Good Food Learning.

Yarra Ranges Enterprise Centres Ltd (YREC)

Nurturing Great Ideas - Growing Small Business

This proposal aims to consolidate YREC's successful business incubation model and expand this model to increase the delivery of YREC's services across the Yarra Ranges region. YREC has established an excellent and well recognised business incubation model within the local community of Warburton and surrounding area. Using this model as a base, YREC now aims to launch from this model and expand over the next four years.

Wandoon Estate Aboriginal Corporation

Coranderrk Visitor Program

The aim of this project is to develop and implement a visitor program for Coranderrk Aboriginal Station to enable the stories of Coranderrk to be shared with all community members. It will be completed by a team comprising a project sub committee of Wandoon Estate Aboriginal
Corporation and consultants as required. The project will draw on research from Nicola Stairmand’s State Library of Victoria Fellowship to guide the development of a visitor program framework suitable for self-guided tours, with audiences including community and specialist groups such as Coranderrk descendants and agricultural groups.

Outer East Foodshare

Building Food Relief Capacity in the Yarra Ranges

Outer East Foodshare will undertake a raft of activities, not limited to: (i) increasing the amount of protein delivered per month to food relief agencies, (ii) increasing the number of services provided to agencies e.g. food delivery, workshops, mentoring and coaching, and (iii) providing fresher food, reduce the amount of wasted and support local growers and to reduce the amount of food that is wasted, reduce food miles.

Taking Hope, Grace and Love to the Streets

Holy Fools plans to refine and provide operational resources to deliver: (i) outreach services operate all hours, and locations, other services don’t service, (ii) an education program that increases comprehension of local issues of poverty and homelessness and invite support for the vulnerable,

Belgrave Community Arts Partnership

Belgrave Lantern Parade

The Belgrave Lantern Parade is an all ages, all abilities community event celebrating the winter solstice in June each year. A Lantern Village is created during the afternoon and in the evening the Main St in Belgrave is closed while 10,000 plus participants and viewers gather for a parade of lanterns, performers, singers, drummers and more. The parade is the culmination of many months spent lantern making by community groups, individuals, shop traders and our partners in this program. A series of workshops is run by lantern makers to equip the community with lantern making skills. The Winter Windows program sees lanterns appear in shop windows in the weeks prior to the parade.

Celebrate Mooroolbark Inc.

'Celebrate Mooroolbark' Annual Community Festival

From small beginnings Celebrate Mooroolbark is now a leading community festival in the Yarra Ranges Shire. It attracts 10,000 attendees and includes over 120 stalls, a street parade, two stages and new attractions every year. Celebrate Mooroolbark connects and brings the community together for a fun, social experience which improves their quality of life. It contributes to and celebrates the
cultural and artistic heritage of the region while utilising our biggest local public space.

Belgrave Survival Day

Belgrave Survival Day (BSD) is a free community festival held at Borthwick Park on January 26th each year to celebrate and acknowledge the value and vibrancy of Indigenous music and culture. The aim is to raise public awareness of Indigenous culture, traditions and contemporary issues and bring all Australians together in the true spirit of Reconciliation. The event aims to be a living and breathing example of how the first nation peoples of this continent can be honoured and respected

Ecotopia Earth Festival

Ecotopia Earth Festival celebrates community and sustainability. It is the Upper Yarra's only significant, annual grass roots festival patronised by a broad cross section of the community. This free event is accessible by public transport and is wheelchair accessible. This festival is always innovative and has created a large and successful Recycled Fashion Parade event within the festival. Ecotopia brings all the sustainability initiatives of the town to the street, and showcases all
that the community does throughout the year in their own homes.

Yarra Valley Arts / Yering Station Sculpture Exhibition and Awards

The Yarra Valley Arts / Yering Station Sculpture Exhibition and Awards is a collaborative event between Yarra Valley Arts and Yering Station, a premier winery in the Yarra Valley. The exhibition has grown in stature since 2001 and is now an iconic event on the Victorian Arts calendar. It is respected for its consistency and longevity, and for regularly showcasing a cross section of contemporary Australian sculptural practice from both established and emerging artists. It is now the longest running sculpture exhibition among the current group of established sculpture exhibitions in Victoria.

The Open Weekend at TarraWarra Museum of Art began in 2013 as a once-off public celebration for the museum’s tenth birthday, throwing open the doors for all. Strong attendance numbers and positive feedback instigated an annual event funded by Yarra Ranges Council, which explored family-focussed programming, while the proposed future programming will look at two main broad
themes – ‘supporting our creative communities’ and ‘active participation in the arts’.

Bring the joy of choral singing to more people across the Yarra Ranges

Yarra Valley Singers (YVS) is an non-auditioned adult community choir, established in 1988, which now has over 70 members. It is one of Victoria's premier regional community choirs, reaching out to audiences across the Yarra Ranges region and representing the Yarra Ranges at state-wide choral events. The YVS seeks to: (i) increase access to a wider base of participants, (ii) offer training to its members and music leadership team, (iii) celebrate features of the Yarra Ranges Cultural Heritage
– its environment, events and people, through singing.

Misfit Theatre

The Road to Sustainability

The Misfit Project (TMP) consists of a range of programs. Options include theatre based development groups, writers groups, digital storytelling, theatre performances, camps, workshops, volunteer and employment opportunities. Central to the development of TMP is the creation of
multiple entry points to the support of The Misfit Project.
