Apply for Small Grants

Council's Small Grants Program offers support for community groups responding to opportunities and challenges in their communities.

The program provides funding for activities that facilitate greater social inclusion, wellbeing and participation and that foster community leadership and capacity building.

The Small Grants Program runs per financial calendar year and applicants can only be awarded one Small Grant per financial year.

The Small Grants Program comprises a number of categories:

  • Connected & Vibrant Communities (up to $1000)
  • Community Planning for acknowledged Community Plans (up to $1000)
  • Youth Pathways under 25 years old (up to $250)
  • Sports Participation under 25 years old (up to $350)
  • In-kind for hall and facility hire (up to $300)
  • In-kind for waste management (up to 30 bins).

As with all Council grants, funding is limited and will be awarded on a competitive basis.

Key dates and timelines 

The Small Grants Program will run on a monthly basis. Applications will be assessed quickly, with a maximum turn around time of four weeks. Approximate times are detailed below.

Please note that applications can be made well in advance, but no retrospective grants can be approved. Activities need to take place after the grant has been awarded.

 Rounds closes

 Last calendar day of each month


 2-3 weeks from round closing


 1 week from assessments occurring

Applicants for in-kind grants for hall hire need to contact Council’s Halls Team at or Council's Venues Team at to check availability and fees.

Applicants for in-kind waste management need to contact Council's Waste Management team at at least one week before the round closes to confirm eligibility.
