Information about preschools
Local preschools offer group sessions for 3 and 4 year olds. Programs encourage children to learn and develop through play, building self esteem, creativity, confidence and building relationships with others.
Preschool programs are offered in community managed preschools, cluster managed services, schools and long day care centres.
When will my child be eligible to attend preschool?
Three year old programs are optional and offered at most preschools.
To be eligible for 4 year old preschool, your child must turn 4 before 30 April in the year of attendance.
How do I enrol my child for preschool?
Contact your chosen preschool or early years service directly to enrol your child. Enrolments are normally taken from 2 years of age.
How much does it cost for my child to go to preschool?
Fees vary depending on the preschool, contact your chosen preschool for fee details. State government funding is available for 4 year old preschoolers attending a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Can I get help with paying preschool fees?
Families may be eligible for government rebate or subsidies. Please discuss with management at your chosen preschool or contact CentreLink for more information.
Council also offers support to families with children in 4 year old preschool who are not eligible for the Kindergarten Fee Subsidy via the K I K Start program. K I K Start provides partial fee subsidy and links to support services to assist families and children to remain engaged in their current preschool.
