Hospitality Jump Start for Jobs - Kitchen Skills Training Course
Yarra Ranges Council is partnering with Box Hill Institute, Lilydale to deliver the Hospitality Jump Start for Jobs - Kitchen Skills training course to support our local job seekers learn skills and find jobs in our hospitality and tourism businesses.
Learn the skills to give you the confidence to apply for jobs in the Hospitality Industry, and work towards becoming a chef or commercial cook in businesses such as cafes, restaurants, catering, pubs and hotels.
About the Course
This face-to-face course will be delivered at Box Hill Institute, Lakeside campus in Lilydale. Places are limited to 12 participants for each course.
Key skills obtained will be responsible service of alcohol, food safety principles, use of kitchen equipment and knife skills.
Jobs and Pathways
You could apply for jobs as a Kitchen Hand or Apprentice Chef.
The course can lead you into further studies such as a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or other hospitality or culinary studies, or you could start a Chef Apprenticeship.
As part of the course the Skills and Jobs Centre can help you connect with local employers and create a career plan.
Course Content
The course includes four days of course work and one day of career advice and planning and an opportunity to meet employers, showcase your skills and meet the job advocates.

You have a connection with the Yarra Ranges area e.g. live, work or study, be interested in working in the local hospitality and tourism industry, in particular in a commercial kitchen and be currently unemployed or underemployed (working less than 30 hours per week)
