    Is there a mobile library?

Council last year replaced the ageing B-double mobile library truck with a flexi vehicle.

The vehicle travels to set public locations around the Yarra Ranges, retirement villages and is available for community events.

It is more accessible for people with a disability and is able to travel to places the larger truck was unable to go.

After a year's trial, Council decided to keep the flexi vehicle permanently. These changes have saved us $150,000 per annum. Replacing the mobile library truck with a flexi vehicle saved a one-off $732,000.

Find out how to have the flexi vehicle visit your playgroup, preschool, occasional care or after school/holiday program.

What library services are available in the Yarra Ranges?

Our libraries are operated by Eastern Regional Libraries (ERL), a cooperative venture with Knox and Maroondah Councils.

You can enjoy storytime sessions, holiday activities, family history, computer access, free WiFi and community programs.

There are branches or community reading rooms at Belgrave, Healesville, Lilydale, Monbulk, Montrose, Mooroolbark, Mt Evelyn, Yarra Glen and Yarra Junction.

During a review of our mobile library services Council decided to replace the B-double truck with a new flexi vehicle.

The new flexi vehicle has no steps, making it more accessible and offers books, magazines and DVDs. It can also visit places the larger truck could not access.

The flexi vehicle visits designated locations regularly but can also attend festivals and events throughout each year as part of Council’s mobile library service.
