Our Recruitment Process

Application submitted online
Applicants will receive a submitted successfully acknowledgement 
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by phone   
Interviews conducted by a panel of three Yarra Ranges employees 
Unsuccessful interviewed candidates will be notified by phone, other unsuccessful candidates will be advised via email  
Successful candidate may be required to undertake Pre-employment screening (eg medical, police check, working with children)

Addressing Selection Criteria

All positions advertised will include selection criteria consisting of core and position specific competencies.   These competencies describe the behaviours, motivations, experiences and knowledge that we, as an organisation, believe employees need to demonstrate to be successful in that position.

When responding to the selection criteria use the same method that you would in an interview, providing examples of how your current/past skills and experience meet that criteria by:

  • describing the situation/task
  • describing your level of involvement in that situation/task
  • describing the outcome/result

We receive a large number of applications with all applications being assessed based on who ‘best’ meets the selection criteria and therefore there may be times where candidates do meet the selection criteria but are not invited for an interview.
