Council advocates on behalf of the community for projects, policies and services that are of benefit to Yarra Ranges’ residents and businesses.

Advocacy can take the form of making a submission, direct lobbying, meeting with decision makers, consultation, media strategies and public campaigns.

Advocating to the State and Federal Governments on behalf of the community for projects, services and infrastructure outside council's capacity or control is a key priority for council.

Council engages and works with residents, community groups and stakeholders in advocacy campaigns. Sometimes campaigns will be led by council and other times council will support community driven campaigns.
