| The Shire of Yarra Ranges Community Well-Being Plan is a key strategy that contributes to the achievement of the Corporate Plan. The success of the Community Well-Being Plan relies on the active participation of all areas of the Council.
While the State and Federal Governments are the major providers within the public health system, local government has an important leadership role in promoting the quality of life and well-being of its residents.
Councils are required to develop a Municipal Public Health Plan under Section 29B of the Health Act 1958. The Act specifies that issues impacting on the health of people in the municipality must be identified and strategies outlined to deal with these issues, to enable people living in the municipality to achieve maximum well-being.
The Shire’s Municipal Public Health Plan, The Shire of Yarra Ranges' Community Well-Being Plan 2007-2010 , is designed to enhance the health status of people in the municipality, by building on present strategies and programs as well as introducing new initiatives to address current and emerging health issues.
The key result areas and associated objectives of this Community Well-Being Plan have been derived from the Shire of Yarra Ranges Community Well-Being Profile and discussions with key local and regional stakeholders. | |
