Prostanthera ovalifolia  (Oval-leaved Mint Bush)

  • One of the most spectacular of the mint bushes when in flower.
  • Purple flowers are produced in spring and almost completely obscure the foliage.
  • Foliage is highly aromatic when crushed.
  • Fast-growing
  • Grows well in full or filtered sun
  • Excellent under established trees
  • A shrub of 2 – 3 metres high by 1 – 2 metre wide
  • Adaptable to a range of soils but enjoys some moisture
  • Generally frost-tolerant

Thomasia macrocarpa (Large-fruited Thomasia)

  • Bracelets of large and showy mauve flowers appear from late
  • winter and well into spring
  • A beautiful foliage plant with sage green, velvety, lobed foliage
  • An excellent shrub for a shady-dry garden
  • Full to filtered sun
  • Well-drained soil preferred but otherwise adaptable
  • Generally frost-tolerant
  • Grows 1 – 1.5 metres high and 1.5 – 2 metres wide

Orthrosanthus multiflorus Morning Flag

  • Beautiful, pale blue flowers are produced on stems of up to 1 metre in height
  • A neat clumping habit, light green, grassy foliage and a foliage height of around 60cm or so. Although each flower only lasts a day or so, new flowers continue to appear throughout spring and into summer
  • Full to filtered sun
  • Best with some moisture but will adapt to drier conditions
  • Easily-grown in a range of soils
  • Moderately frost-tolerant
  • Excellent rockery, edging or container plant
