Anigozanthos flavida - Tall or Giant Kangaroo paw
This species is the tallest growing of all Kangaroo Paws. A clump forming plant up to 1m wide with strap-like leaves to around 1m long. Usually green, but can have red, orange, or watermelon flowers produced in great numbers on branched stems 2-3m tall over a long period during Dec. to March.
WA; Hardy; full or partial sun; foliage plant, bird attracting.

Boronia filifolia - Slender Boronia
A dainty dwarf shrub forming a mound 0.3-0.5m x 1m with fine, reddish-bronze or light green aromatic foliage and tiny pink flowers scattered over the plant throughout the year.

Brachychiton populneus - Common Kurrajong
A handsome upright evergreen tree to 16m, with shiny dark green leaves. The cream bell-shaped flowers are flecked inside with red and appear copiously in terminal sprays during January and February at Karwarra, followed by boat-shaped fruiting follicles (pod-like). Hairs on the seeds can irritate the skin. Once these are removed the fruit is edible, eaten raw, roasted or made into a drink.

Corymbia ficifolia - WA Flowering Gum
A spectacular tree 12-15m x I0-18m with a rough-barked trunk and dense broad foliage. Masses of showy orange, scarlet, red, crimson, pink, pale pink, or cream flowers occur during summer followed by large decorative seed capsules. Several colour forms are growing at Karwarra, flowering in February/March.
All states, coastal; specimen tree; bird and bee attracting.

Lomatia fraxinifolia
A small to medium-sized tree from 6-20m high. Leaves may be up to 60cm long with elliptical, toothed leaflets up to 15cm long. From January to March, the cream, lightly scented flowers are born in loose, often branched flowerheads, standing above the foliage. Each raceme is up to 20cm long. Karwarra has 2 forms - an upright tree with very long leaves in the rainforest area and a lower bushy shrub with somewhat smaller leaves and larger flowers.
QLD; moist, well-drained soil; butterfly attracting; foliage for florists.
