Ceratopetalum gummiferum – New South Wales Christmas Bush
The beautiful New South Wales Christmas Bush is renowned for its brilliant ‘floral’ display of pink-red, beautiful foliage and neat habit. It is a variable plant that grows between 4-10 metres high depending on the form, soil type and moisture levels.
The flowers of ceratopetalum are white and produced between September and January. The pink occurs as the flowers fade and the sepals behind each flower swell and change to pink-red, effectively extending the display through to early May.
Grow in full or filtered sun. Frost hardy, generally easily grown and responds well to pruning.

Epacris impressa ‘Bega’- Common Heath
There are many beautiful and interesting variants of Epacris impressa, however many are considered fussy in a garden situation. Happily, the form from the ‘Bega’ area of New South Wales has proven very reliable and is one of the most popular and desirable selections for the domestic garden. This selection produces dramatic orange-red flowers for most of the year and is popular with nectar-feeding birds. While this small shrub responds well to pruning once flowering finally finishes, wear gloves as the tiny leaves are a little prickly. It is an excellent cut-flower. Full or filtered sun. |
